Welcome the ‘for the first time’ another time from the Modi government. This time, it’s the HRD ministry which has come up with something different. Breaking the conventional line of actions, the HRD ministry of the government has undertaken the task of ranking educational institutions in India. They have come up with the ranking today and there are many surprises for us there. Yes, yes, you must be guessing about the pedestal of JNU and Hyderabad university.
The NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework) is the methodology developed for ranking the institutions of education. Experts have agreed that this system is quite different from others.
One more thing is sure, with the rankings of JNU and Hyderabad University that the government is not against those institutions (as some media houses and newspapers were trying to reflect). Yes, there are some differences in the rankings if you compare them to the classical rankings coming regularly. For example, the IIM Ahmedabad is not the top management institute this time. IIM Bangalore has achieved the number one ranking this year. The classic champion has shifted to the second position on the list of top management institutions.
Likewise, the cult of Delhi University and BHU has broken. Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore has emerged as the top university in India. DU could get a position at number 6 on the list.
However, as the weakness of human nature allows, I do have complaints. I will raise my complaints later as you must have been losing the patience to see the list of universities and other specialized institutions. Here you go then:
