opinions that matter

Well, do you really want to know what love is? The problem is everyone whom we suppose as the great of his field (her field as well, please don’t charge me) tried to define love, but only to fail. Until the date, and the moment I am writing this ‘yet another failed attempt to define love,’ love is still undefined! You cannot point your finger to some lines and say yes, that’s the definition of love! Some defined it as a purpose of human life; some ascribed to love the power of a fever which comes and goes independently despite the age; some greats like C S Lewis told that love is hell; some called love mysterious; some termed it the magic; the funniest of the more than a billion opinions about this love, I find this:

“Love, n. A temporary insanity curable by marriage.”

A definition of ‘Love’ proposed by Ambrose Bierce in his famous The Devil’s Dictionary.

Not only the authors and philosophers, also the singers have tried to propose their inquiry into the city of love. The best cases that I remember of those are Foreigner’s songs. This band had given the world of music greatest classics which will remain fresh forever. Here is what Foreigner wanted to know:

I gotta take a little time, a little time to think things over
I better read between the lines, in case I need it when I’m older

Now this mountain I must climb, feels like the world upon my shoulders
Through the clouds I see love shine, it keeps me warm as life grows colder

In my life, there’s been heartache and pain
I don’t know if I can face it again
Can’t stop now, I’ve traveled so far, to change this lonely life

I want to know what love is, I want you to show me
I want to feel what love is, I know you can show me

However, I will not rest the case here. Do you think someone else can (or could) define ‘your love’ better than you? At least, I, don’t think so. I have my own understanding of love which no one else can make me understand. I perceive love based on my experiences, my feelings, my understanding of the moments and everything that is ‘mine’. For Socrates, things must have been different when he told Plato that love is nothingness; love is the condition of being unattached to love itself…

Today, love in the hands of our ‘latest’ generation is very different that it used to be 20 years back. However, at the moment, the ball is in my court and I have to give my opinions about it. Well, to me, love is silence; love is mute; love is darkness; love is something which makes you aware of yourself; it’s a reflection of your persona. Someone who can teach you to relish your life; someone who can lead you to revel in your dreams; someone who can make your trust yourself; someone whom you can trust with both eyes closed on the mountain… that someone is the personification of your ‘love’ in the physical form. Have you ever found a ‘someone’ of this rank? If yes, you have found love in person; if no, wait for the time to come; if yes, and lost, you lost your love.
